Festo's New Miniature Valve Series Packs A Powerful Punch

Festo's new Miniature Valve family offers the best of both
worlds-the advantages compact size along with unparalleled
versatility. The MH1 miniature valve design (l0mmgrid) is available for single sub-base, standard manifold, sub-D (connector) manifold, and PCB mounted manifold configurations. The initial release of the 10mm (MH1) will include 10 liter-per-minute (0 to 8 bar) 3/2 direct-acting units, 3/2 normally open and normally closed, and a 2/2 normally closed unit for vacuum applications that provides 20 liters-per-minute flow.

One of the most attractive features of the Miniature Valve Series
is the range of flexibility offered with regard to powering the valve. Depending upon the mounting desired, the valve can be ordered for any one of three electrical connection configurations. First is the direct plug-in style where the electrical connection is made when the valve body is mounted to the sub-base (single or manifold). There are also additional
connector options, which include what Festo calls the HC (horizontal connector) or the TC (top connector), where the connector is plugged into either the rear (HC) or top CTC) of the coil housing.

The efficient design of the Miniature Valve's Sub-D Manifold
enables the mounting of up to 22 valves (MH1 type) and electrical
connection with either a 9- or 25-pin Sub-D connector, depending on the number of solenoids required (offered In front, rear or top orientation for utmost convenience).

The PCB compatible manifold option offers a highly efficient
method of achieving 'on-board' pneumatics in very close proximity to controlling electronics. The PCB option is limited to plug-in (P1) electrical connection, however this configuration will be offered with a PCB mountable connector to allow adaptation of Festo's Miniature Valve technology into customer-designed circuits and PCB's. In the future, Festo plans to offer certain custom design services to customers who desire to use the PCB mounting option.

The Miniature Valve family is available for applications that
require 5-, 12-, or 24-volt dc power and protection to IP 40 standards. All ports are in sub-bases, valves and manifolds are metric thread. On MH1 valve manifolds, the customer can request that 2/2- and 3/2-way valves be mounted in any order desired.
