SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Jan. 2, 2002) - Designed for use in low voltage, low current logic level circuits, NKK Switches introduces its G series of washable, ultra-miniature toggle and rocker switches.

Suited for the medical, communication, transportation, instrumentation, security and industrial/commercial industries, each G series model weighs .25 grams and measures .276 inches X .276 inches X .177 inches or 7mm X 7mm X 4.5mm. The ultra-miniature size allows high-density mounting, and the lightweight design is ideal for handheld equipment.

Guaranteeing high contact reliability and crisp actuation, all G series toggle and rocker switches feature NKK's patented and award-winning Sliding Twin Crossbar (STC) contact mechanism. The STC mechanism ensures that the gold-plated contacts are wiped clean with every actuation. In addition, the combination of rounded, movable and stationary contacts further enhances the smooth contact feel.

The G series of ultra-miniature toggles and rockers are available in single or double pole variations, and with five circuit combinations. Combinations include momentary, maintained and three-position models, which range from standard ON-ON and ON-OFF-ON to the three ON position.

Engineers can specify straight, right-angle and vertical mount versions for toggle actuators, and straight PC or right-angle PC mount for rocker models. The round terminals facilitate mounting and conform to standard .100 X .100-inch PC board grid spacing.

The G series' molded-in, epoxy-sealed terminals lock out flux, solvents and other contaminants. In addition, the G series toggle and rocker switches are process-sealed for automated process techniques including flux-cleaning procedures. The bushing and housing are constructed of one molded piece, and a rubber o-ring surrounds the actuator. A rubber seal protects the base where it fits into the actuator.

These ultra-miniature toggles and rockers are rated 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC maximum. Both the mechanical and electrical life are rated for a minimum of 100,000 operations for maintained circuits, and 50,000 operations minimum for momentary circuits. All G series models are IECQ approved. Adding to the aesthetic value, matching indicators are available with red, yellow or green LEDs.
