NKK Switches Announces New Miniature Slide Switches

MS AND CS SERIES OFFER AFFORDABILITY, OPTIONS

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 16, 2004) - With the offering of two series of miniature slide switches, MS and CS series, NKK Switches further demonstrates its commitment to providing quality, selection and support to engineers faced with complex designs and marketing considerations.

NKK designed these series to provide a broad array of switch configurations for engineers.

The MS miniature slide switches are available in flat frame and bracketed PC mounting options. Offered in single pole double throw, single pole three throw, and double pole double throw, these devices can be configured in either two positions or three positions, with maintained circuits. All models are available with an actuator width of .150" and double pole versions can he requested with a .323" wide actuator. Mounting options include solder lug, straight PC with or without bracket, and vertical or right angle PC. In addition, the MS series is offered in power or logic level ratings.

Power rated models are rated 6A @ 125V AC or 3A @ 250V AC. Logic level devices are rated 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC maximum. Engineers can also request silver, gold, or gold-over-silver contacts.

Several distinctive characteristics set the MS series apart from other slide switches. Constructed with an over-the-center actuator block and plunger, the design provides crisp actuation with clear indication of circuit status. This innovative design also diminishes sparking and increases operating life. The mechanical life of the MS series is rated at 100,000 operations minimum. The anti-jamming design protects its contacts from damage due to excessive downward force on the actuator. Silver alloy contacts for all ratings are uniquely composed to offer high contact reliability. The MS series is UL Recognized and CSA Certified.

The CS series is a lower cost companion to the MS series. Design engineers working on applications with more serious cost constraints can specify the CS series in order to adhere to their budgets. Offered in the most standard and popular circuit configurations of single or double pole, two position ON ON circuits, this series is straight-PC mounted. The single pole model has an actuator width of .150" and the double pole has an actuator width of .323". This series offers high performance at a low cost. The CS series is a power rated device rated at 3A @ 125V AC or 2A @ 250V AC.

NKK's MS and CS series slide switches both feature UL 94-V0 flammability ratings. Their terminals are epoxy sealed to lock out flux, dust and other contaminants. These switches are suited for a wide variety of applications including audio devices, telecommunications, electronic controls, and household appliances.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches. The company manufactures more than three million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches.
