NKK Switches Offers UB2 Series Miniature Pushbuttons

Low Profile Multi-Element LED Switches Available With Alternating Legends And Colors

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 24, 2007) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switching devices, offers the UB2 series of lighted pushbuttons.

The UB2 series is a unique, miniature, low profile lighted switch family designed for use in applications requiring a compact and brilliantly illuminated switch solution. Its features include built-in special multi-element LEDs available in red, green, amber, blue, white or bicolor red/green LED options.

Single pole/double throw and double pole/double throw in momentary and alternate action circuit configurations can be specified. Alternate action circuit models feature a latch-down mechanism giving indication of circuit status.

UB2 switches are available in snap-in mount or PCB mount versions. The snap-in mount version is solder lug and has a behind panel depth of 15mm. The PCB mount version has a behind panel depth of 10mm. Terminals are epoxy sealed to lock out flux, solvents and other contaminants.

In addition, NKK has enhanced the selection of the UB2 series by offering alternating legends by color all in one switch. These new options offer innovative design engineers an exceptional choice to replace standard, outdated, split legend caps. The UB2 super bright, red/green, bi-color LED switch selections can be specified with alternating standard legend configurations. Standard, off-the-shelf legends include ON/OFF, START/STOP, or OPEN/CLOSE.

The glossy polycarbonate cap features a single filter with a dual legend, under the clear lens. When actuated, the green or red LED brilliantly highlights the alternating legends, clearly indicating the desired circuit status. Legends are black text and the cap styles for these devices include sculptured or flat. Companion or stand-alone indicators are also available with the dual legend options.

The UB2 pushbuttons are also available in power and logic level rated models. These highly reliable, devices are rated 5A @ 125/250V AC or 5A @ 30V DC for power rated models and 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC for the logic level models. Mechanical life is rated at 1,000,000 operations minimum for momentary circuits and 200,000 operations minimum for maintained circuit. The housing is constructed of glass fiber reinforced polyamide. Both the housing and base meet UL94V-0 flammability standards. The UB2 series is UL and C-UL Recognized.
