ifm efector Introduces New Line of Miniature Magnetic Cylinder Sensors with GMR Technology
EXTON, PA - April 1, 2005 - ifm efector's new line of miniature magnetic cylinder sensors incorporate Giant Magnetoresistive technology (GMR) to provide extremely high sensitivity to magnetic fields in pneumatic cylinder applications. With the integration of GMR technology, ifm's magnetic sensors offer high accuracy, excellent repeatability, fast response times, and immunity from long-term effects of magnetic fields.
ifm's magnetic cylinder sensors are polarity independent and provide reliable piston-position detection regardless of magnet orientation. Designed for rugged industrial applications, the durable sensors have an unlimited number of cycles which reduces sensor replacement through the life of the cylinder.
The sensor features top-loading mounting that eliminates the need to remove cylinder endcaps. During installation, the integrated snap-fit tab prevents the sensor from sliding -even in vertical positioned cylinders. Only 25 mm in length, the miniature sensor easily fits into T-slot cylinders to provide a flush, low-profile mounting. The sensor is secured with a mounting screw that prevents cable-pulls in fast-moving cylinders.
Using ifm's innovative adapter system, the sensor easily fits a variety of cylinder types including smooth, tie rod, integrated profile and dovetail. For washdown environments, ifm offers a cylinder sensor rated IP69K.
Magnetic cylinder sensors are DC units and available in a variety of cabled and pigtail models. Threaded M8 pigtail models connect directly to multi-port blocks without requiring a patch cord. Other models include M8 snap pigtail, M12 pigtail, and 2 meter cable options.
Two-wire models are PNP/NPN, normally open; three-wire models are PNP or NPN, normally open. List price ranges from $39.00 (U.S.) to $49.00 (U.S.). Mounting accessories range from $3.75 (U.S.) to $9.00 (U.S.)
