Miniature IR Receivers feature 2 photodiodes.

Press Release Summary:

Series TSOP75xxxW ultra-miniature SMD IR receivers include 2 photodiodes and metal EMI shielding in package with 2.35 mm profile. Lens-less products offer irradiance from 0.3-0.7 mW/m2 over wide angle of ±75°. Operating from supply current of 0.35 mA typical at 3.3 V, units have supply voltage range of 2.5-5.5 V and operate over carrier frequency of 30-56 kHz. They are insensitive to supply voltage and ripple noise and offer immunity against ambient light.

Vishay Releases Industry's First Series of Ultra-Miniature SMD IR Receivers to Offer Two Photodiodes and Patented Internal EMI Shielding Inside Package with 2.35 mm Profile

Lens-Less Devices Offer Best Sensitivity-to-Size Ratio With Irradiance From 0.3 mW/sqm to 0.7 mW/sqm Over Wide Angles of ±75°

MALVERN, Pa. - Oct. 28, 2009 - Vishay Intertechnology (NYSE: VSH) broadens its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of a new series of ultra-miniature SMD IR receivers for remote control systems that are the industry's first such devices to feature two photodiodes, along with patented internal metal EMI shielding, inside an ultra-thin package with a 2.35-mm profile. The lens-less design of the TSOP75xxxW devices results in the industry's best sensitivity-to-size ratio, with irradiance from 0.3 mW/sqm to 0.7 mW/sqm over a wide angle of ±75°.

The devices released today are offered in three automatic gain control (AGC) versions. The TSOP752xxW is compatible with all common IR remote control data formats. The TSOP753xxW and TSOP754xxW suppress almost all spurious pulses from energy-saving fluorescent lamps, including dimmed LCD backlighting, and are compatible with short-burst or long-burst codes, respectively.

The TSOP75xxxW devices offer low power consumption with a supply current of 0.35 mA typical at 3.3 V. The receivers' epoxy package is designed as an IR filter, which features a frequency range optimized for reducing emissions from plasma displays. Compatible with top- or side-view use, the devices are insensitive to supply voltage and ripple noise and offer an improved immunity against ambient light.

The TSOP75xxxW series was designed to fulfill the needs of current and future consumer and laptop designs, where small space and re-flow solder technology are required. The devices are optimized for remote control and data transmission applications in small handheld electronics, such as notebook computers, digicams, and portable music and video players, as well as set-top boxes, thin LCD TVs, game controllers, navigation systems, and USB-TV.

The receivers offer a supply voltage range of 2.5 V to 5.5 V and operate over a carrier frequency of 30 kHz to 56 kHz. All devices are in accordance with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Samples and production quantities of the TSOP75xxxW receivers are available now, with lead times of six weeks for large orders.
