SKF® 'SD Series' Miniature Ball Screws Feature Internal Recirculation Design
New SKF® "SD Series" miniature ball screws from SKF Motion Technologies (Bethlehem, PA) feature internal recirculation inserts to promote smooth running performance and excellent backdriving characteristics. These miniature ball screws can provide precise positioning for linear-actuation applications in a wide range of industries, including medical, aerospace, semiconductor, and industrial, among others.
Their design includes cylindrical nuts with a threaded end for easy mounting and optimized nut geometry. Less sensitive to misalignment, these ball screws exhibit high dynamic load ratings, provide excellent repeatability, and operate at reduced noise levels, compared with other tube types.
Diameters of SKF "SD Series" miniature ball screws range from 8mm to 16mm; leads from 2mm to 5mm; and screw shaft lengths up to 2100mm.
Options for the "SD Series" include safety wire devices, wipers, and corrosion-resistant materials. Nuts with 2 to 6 circuits can be ordered. All SKF ball screw assemblies can be equipped with accessories for screw shafts and nuts and can be supplied with necessary support bearing packages pre-assembled and ready to go.
The "SD Series" can further be customized to provide application solutions with cut-to-length screws shafts, machined ends, cylindrical or flanged nuts with preload or axial play.
