Valenite Bolsters Range of Square Shoulder End and Face Milling Cutters

Expansive new product addition and options, now offering 16mm length inserts, joining 7, 10 & 13mm sizes, fills need for diverse range of work loads and metal removal rates

A little over a year ago, Valenite introduced its ValMILL(TM) V590 Series of end mills and face mills that incorporate the capability to machine true 90-degree surfaces... thus eliminating the need for the typical secondary machining operations previously needed to produce square shoulder part features. Now, this performance-proven line up of cutter bodies and insert combinations has been expanded, with the introduction of a new size insert-the 16mm cutting length insert option--joining the existing 7, 10, and 13mm sizes. The new, robust size tooling makes both the cutter body and the insert stronger, allowing for deeper cuts and increased stock removal. The unique insert shape of the new series provides excellent ramping results, plus minimal witness lines where overlap occurs in deep pocket milling applications

In addition to the size advantage, the new group of mills offers an array of options to fit most application requirements, including end mills with Weldon-style shanks, cylindrical shanks and CAT 40 shank configurations, and a variety of end mill lengths from standard to 10" long. The CAT 40 integral end mills come in 2 lengths for each diameter. Both standard ami course density versions are offered for most end mills and face mills.

A total of 29 tools and 15 inserts are available, with four distinct insert top geometries, and corner radii from 0.015" to 0.250." There are also five grades, including multi-layer PVD
TiAlN/TiN and TiN/Al2O3/TiCN CVD coatings for tough machining and uncoated inserts for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. Overall, the array of insert grades, top form geometries, and now size options means that the V590 series can offer top-rated performance for standard and stainless steels, cast irons, high-temp alloys and non-ferrous parts, and for various depths of cut.

The ValMILL V590 Series of square shoulder mills is designed for multi-task cutting, including roughing, semi-finishing and finish machining for applications such as shoulder milling, pocket and channel milling, edge trimming and face or surface milling. The cutters' unique design delivers smooth cutting action on a variety of materials for contouring, slotting, plunge cuts, drilling and cavity milling.

The design also provides superior chip evacuation properties for longer tool life and part surface finishes, and incorporates quick insert index/changeover capabilities. Performance versatility is further enhanced by the cutters' low horsepower requirements that can allow machines to operate at optimum metal removal rates.

As with all Valenite products, the ValMILL(TM) V590 Square Shoulder Mills are backed by the company's top-rated ValPro(TM) Customer Service for ordering, pricing and delivery scheduling, plus a Technical Support staff offering continuously updated product and application data, and recommendations to optimize metal cutting productivity.
