Milliken's InterDry(TM) Textile with Silver Granted FDA Clearance.


The Food and Drug Administration has granted pre-market clearance under section 510-K of the Drug and Cosmetics Act to Milliken and Company, Spartanburg, S.C. for InterDry textile with silver indicated as a skin protectant for skin folds and other skin to skin areas. The primary use is expected to be in skin management of bariatric patients. InterDry is a soft, porous, composite material sold in 10 by 144 inch rolls that can be cut to size depending on body placement and patient size.

FDA cleared marketing claims include odor reduction, skin to skin friction reduction, and moisture transportation from skin folds. InterDry textile with silver provides effective protection against microbial contamination of the fabric. The fabric reduces colonization by Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Candida albicans according to documents filed with the FDA by Milliken. InterDry is indicated for daily use by licensed healthcare professionals. Coloplast Corporation currently markets InterDry in the United States.
