Milliken & Company Introduces New Packaging Machinery

Spartanburg, S. C. May XX, 2007 -- Milliken & Company, a global leader in chemical and textile manufacturing, has designed and developed new packaging manufacturing equipment that is now available for lease.

"The equipment forms, fills and seals a tetrahedral-shaped package for liquids. In addition to its unique shape, the package boasts one of the most efficient uses of packaging material, which is important when trying to reduce waste." explained Dede Meade, Sales Manager for Milliken Specialty Chemical & Packaging.

The new single-lane equipment provides continuous form, fill, and seal packaging allowing for higher throughput and efficiencies topping 90%. "The vertical design yields high efficiency per unit of floor space with minimal operator attention needed. One operator can run multiple machines." said Kevin Hazen, Milliken Specialty Chemical & Packaging Development Manager.

The new machines are available in three sizes: MP-450 (2.2 - 4.0 ounces/package); MP-310 (0.8 - 2.0 ounce/package); and MP-220 (0.3 - 0.6 ounce/package). All feature touch-screen control panels, polycarbonate doors and covers, output conveyors, PLC's, variable speed drives, OSHA-approved operator safety devices, removable stainless steel product fill tube for easy cleaning, and the capability to remotely access the control system. The equipment is constructed from stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant materials.

Customers may lease the equipment from Milliken, offering the benefit of minimal up-front capital investment. Technical support includes installation and start-up assistance, training programs for operator and maintenance personnel (both on and off-site), 24-hour telephone support, and on-site visits. The company offers customized maintenance programs and an inventory of replacement parts. For further information, visit www.millikenpackaging.com
