Midwest Glass & Mirror Completes Updates to Historic Broderick Towers

Residents of Detroit are used to seeing historic Broderick Towers in the city skyline, but now the 84-year old building is getting a makeover. The goal of the $53 million dollar renovations is to restore beauty and grandeur inside and out to this downtown landmark. Updates will include exterior renovations and interior renovations, including changes to the floors, kitchens, and bathrooms. To ensure the bathrooms would represent both the classic design and modern updates, Michigan company Midwest Glass & Mirror was selected to install custom shower doors in several of the buildings units.

"Like the Broderick Towers, Midwest Glass has a history in Detroit," says Tom Porcaro, a representative of Midwest Glass & Mirror. "We were honored to have the opportunity to showcase our work in such a beautiful building."

Opened in 1928, this 34 story condominium and apartment complex is a staple of the Detroit skyline. Insurance broker David Broderick purchased the building in 1945 and renamed it Broderick Tower. Today, the building keeps the name but is now owned by Motown Construction Partners, a firm dedicated to reviving the aging building to its former glory.

Motown Construction Partners selected Midwest Glass & Mirror of Stevensville Michigan to assist in the completion of the interior renovations. Contractors from Midwest Glass began installing custom Fleurco Shower Doors and European Shower Enclosures in July of 2012. In total, Midwest Glass installed 117 shower door complexes, adding its unique artistic touch to the aesthetics of Broderick Towers as the building enters a new era.

The city of Detroit has had its share of ups and downs since Broderick Towers first graced the skyline at the end of the 1920's. Motown Construction and Midwest Glass & Mirror are two Michigan companies working to returning the city to its glory days, and the Broderick Tower renovations are a perfect example of their dedication.
