Chromalox Launches Mid-Size Hot Oil Heat Transfer System

New product provides precise temperature control for chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics, refining and many other industrial applications

PITTSBURGH, PA - Chromalox, a leading manufacturer of electric heat and control products, introduces its MOS Mid-Size Hot Oil Heat Transfer Systems, assuring responsive and precise electronic process temperature control in a space-saving package. It is ideal for applications in reactors, evaporators, dryers, platen pareses, heat exchangers, roll heating or jacketed kettles, vessels and tanks.

Designed for use with a wide variety of heat transfer oils such as Paratherm®, Mobiletherm®, Therminol®, Dow Brands® and many more, the system offers a compact installation footprint while providing heat transfer capabilities to 600° F or, optionally, 650° F, at atmospheric pressure (non-pressurized). Available for operation from 50 - 150 kW, the MOS offers SCR electronic solid state power control.

The unit operates in a closed loop system using an optional cold expansion tank, reducing the degradation of heat transfer fluids and removing the requirements for a nitrogen (N2) purge. Fully pre-wired and tested, the system is ready to operate on site and provides a space-saving design through a compact footprint (32" x 36" for 50 & 75 kW, 34' x 36" for 100 - 150 kW). No external cooling is required as the system is equipped with an air-cooled mechanical seal. Factory-supervised commissioning and training helps to get the MOS system on line in a customer's facility faster than competitive products.

MOS systems feature rugged 150# carbon steel construction for industrial applications, with a heavy-duty, steel support base with channel grooves for forklift transport. A fully-welded heat chamber houses long-lasting Chromalox heating elements.

"The Chromalox MOS Hot Oil Heat Transfer System presents a broad package of features for higher kW hot oil needs," said Mark Wheeler, Chromalox Product Manager - Systems. "It packages precision control with durability in a compact arrangement to serve a wide range of applications in any industrial application with hot oil requirements."
