Microtech(TM) Residential Sidewall Sprinkler Now UL Listed for 20 x 20 ft (6 x 6 m) Rooms
Hastings, Michigan - The Viking Corporation, a global leader in fixed fire protection technology, is pleased to announce that the UL listing for its VK453 Microtech(TM) residential sidewall sprinkler has been expanded to include a 20 x 20 ft (6,1 x 6,1 m) room size. In addition to providing the lowest flows for any listed coverage area, Viking is the only manufacturer to offer residential sidewall sprinklers with UL listed coverage areas of 16 x 22 ft (4,9 x 6,7 m), 18 x 20 ft (5,5 x 6,1 m), and 20 x 20 ft (6,1 x 6,1 m).
The listed flow and pressure for the new 20 x 20 ft (6,1 x 6,1 m) coverage area is 25 gpm (94,6 lpm) at 39 psi (2,69 bar). In addition to potentially reducing the total number of sprinklers required in a system, this new listing enables greater design flexibility. The 20 ft (6,1 m) wide listing allows the sprinkler to be installed up to 10 ft (3 m) off the adjacent wall, enabling greater flexibility to design around potential obstructions on the wall.
This new listing is just the latest addition to Viking's leading Freedom® line of residential fire protection products. The VK453 sidewall sprinkler is available in 155°F (68°C) and 175°F (79°C) temperature ratings and four standard finishes (white, brass, chrome, and black).
