Microsun Batteries Power Teams Winning the Department of Defense Wearable Power Competition

Lisle, IL, October 23, 2008 - MicroSun Technologies LLC, a leading manufacturer of advanced high performance lithium ion battery packs and smart charging devices, provided two entrants the batteries instrumental in their hybrid power systems. These entrants placed 1st and 3rd in the Department of Defense Wearable $1.75 million Power Prize Challenge Competition. The state of the art battery packs required significant electronic management as well as the capability to endure the grueling test regime. The 1st place winner was a team comprised of DuPont Chemical and Smart Fuel Cell and the 3rd place winner was Capitol Connections LLC.

Each team had to provide a wearable power system that produced 20 watts of average power for 96 hours while weighing less than 4 kilograms. Only the three lightest systems completing the arduous 96 hour test were declared winners and received cash prizes. Two of the three prize-winning teams worked closely with MicroSun Technologies to power their way into the winners circle. Jim Stephens, team leader of the 3rd Place Winner of the Wearable Power Prize Competition, clearly endorsed the contribution of MicroSun Technologies by saying "without the hybrid supplied by MicroSun Technologies we could not have won; and just as amazing, even our back-up system with the MicroSun Battery completed the 96 hour test." Dr. Dennis Kountz, team leader of the DuPont/SFC M-25 team said "winning 1st place was enabled by an excellent battery from MicroSun Technologies."

"Winning #1 in one of the most challenging power application competitions demonstrates MicroSun's technical expertise in the alternative power space" states Alan ElShafei, President and CEO of MicroSun Technologies LLC.
