Microscope offers continuously-focusable operation.

Press Release Summary:

Operating from 25 mm to infinity, InfiniVar CFM-2 is compatible with video sensors to 1 in. C- or T-mount format. Front objective yields wide format, allowing use of Large Format Amplifier to cover up to 35 mm formats. At 25 mm working distance, microscope attains 6.4x primary magnification and at 66 mm, 1x primary magnification on-sensor. Movement of 41 mm equals 6:1 zero-in ratio. Moving CFM-2 out further, 32:1 zero-in ratio is possible from 200-25 mm.

New Improved Infinivar CFM-2

London, United Kingdom - (MicroScience 2004) - July 6, 2004 - At MicroScience 2004, London, (one of the world's major events for science, microscopy and in-situ analysis), INFINITY PHOTO-OPTICAL COMPANY, the world leader in long-distance and continuously-focusable microscope technology announced a new, improved InfiniVar Continuously-Focusable Microscope. The R&D 100 and Photonics "Circle of Excellence" award-winning product has been improved, providing nearly three times the close-focus working distance of the original and compatibility with video sensors to 1-in. C- or T-mount format.

Previously, the InfiniVar operated from 9mm to infinity; the new model provides virtually the same magnification-but from 25mm to infinity, easily permitting accessibility for tools and easier lighting from the greater stand-off. In addition, a newly-designed front objective yields a wider format, covering a typical microscope eyepiece with ease. This means that many techniques can be utilized which were impossible from the previous InfiniVar model, including use of a Large Format Amplifier to cover up to 35mm formats.

Like the earlier version, InfiniVar CFM-2 is the only full-format microscope that focuses continuously from infinity down to closest proximity. At 25mm working distance, the InfiniVar CFM-2 attains 6.4x primary magnification and, at 66mm, 1x primary magnification on-sensor. Consequently, a movement of 41mm equals a 6:1 zero-in ratio. Moving InfiniVar CFM-2 out further, a 32:1 zero-in ratio is possible from 200mm down to 25mm. This adaptability allows the depth of field and magnification to be combined for the best overall effects: for example, whole circuit boards can be viewed in-hand and then zeroed-in for detailed, high-resolution imagery.
