Edmund Industrial Optics Announces Laser Scan Micrometer

June 18, 2002, Barrington, NJ - Edmund Industrial Optics (EO) of Barrington, New Jersey has announced the release of a Desktop Laser Scan Micrometer. This bench-top instrument allows you to measure a workpiece precisely, without contact.

A very high scanning speed of 226 m/s allows inspection of small, high-temperature, or fragile workpieces even during motion or vibration. This desktop micrometer can also measure transparent objects. Measuring range is from 0.5mm to 60mm with selectable resolution from 50nm to 0.1 mm and repeatability of 0.6microns. Two items may be measured simultaneously, and measurement conditions can be set and later recalled to accommodate different workpiece shapes, maximum and minimum values, and sample measurement.

In addition to an RS-232C data interface, the instrument provides analysis functions including elimination of data significantly exceeding the tolerance limit. Functions also perform automatic measurement with edge specification, and allow users to specify segments, edges, reference values, resolution, and laser power deterioration. Optional accessories include a calibration gauge set and an adjustable workstage.
