Original Press Release:

DLP-245PB - Rapid Development USB-Microcontroller Board

Fairport, NY: DLP-245PB is a cost-effective, microcontroller-based board, designed for easy custom-interfacing an electronic peripheral to a host computer via USB. DLP-245PB combines the easy-to-use FT232BM USB UART with a Microchip PIC microcontroller to form a rapid development tool. To make things easy, DLP-245PB comes preprogrammed with basic functionality for port access and can be reprogrammed with a separate FLASH programmer.

DLP-245PB has been designed for engineers who want to do easy USB prototype development, such as ISDN and ADSL modems, digital camera or MP3 interfaces, high-speed USB instrumentation or smart-card readers, set top box (STB) PC-USB interfacing, wireless or hardware modems, bar code readers, etc. With DLP-245PB you can easily send/receive data over USB to a host computer at up to 2 megabits per second. There are 18 I/O lines (6 can be configured as analog inputs) plus an 8-bit data bus available for interfacing to user electronics.

A Microchip 16F877 processor with 8K FLASH ROM, 368 bytes RAM, and a multi-channel, 10-bit A/D converter simplifies A/D input and control functions. "Token I/O" code is already preprogrammed into the 16F877's ROM for basic port pin input/output capability including access to the A/D, EEPROM, and external temperature sensors. The ROM can be erased and reprogrammed with the DLP FLASH programmer (purchased separately) or a user-supplied compatible programmer. No in-depth knowledge of USB is required, since all USB protocol is handled automatically by the on-board FT245BM and its support circuitry. Royalty-free device drivers eliminate the need for USB driver development in most cases (Windows, Mac and Linus). Required 5V supply can be taken directly from the USB port or from user electronics.

Priced from $89.00 (qty 1) DLP-245PB is available from stock from Saelig Co. Inc. For further details contact: Alan Lowne 585-425-3753 (fax: 585-425-3835) saelig@aol.com www.saelig.com Saelig Co. Inc. 1 Cabernet Cir, Fairport NY 14450.
