Micro Bar Code Reader Offered in 3 Versions: Laser, CCD, Scan Engine

November, 2002 - Renton, Wash.: Microscan announces the introduction of three new bar code scanners, the MS-3 series at the Total Design Solutions West, 2002. Designed for embedded applications, the MS-3 series meets demanding space and budget requirements while offering an exceptional feature-set. Engineers no longer have to compromise on performance to meet space and budget specifications for small, high-speed bar code applications.

The MS-3 series provides exceptional versatility in size and functionality. Consisting of a laser scanner, CCD scanner, and a stand-alone CCD scan engine, each product in the series is ideally suited for embedded applications. The MS-3 laser achieves the widest scan width and highest scan speed for any bar code scanner in its class. Featuring a high-speed scan rate of 1,000 scans/decodes per second, the MS-3 laser also offers a scan angle of more than 70 degrees wide. The MS-3 CCD reader offers exceptional depth of field and a scan speed of up to 270 scans per second. The MS-3 CCD scan engine provides the same robust performance in an industry standard shape of 1.5" x .98" x .64".

"The MS-3 product suite is designed to meet the needs of systems design and value engineers," commented Microscan product manager, Andrew Zosel. "The MS-3 series stands up to demanding space, performance, and budget specifications. Unlike other available options that force the engineer to compromise on one or all of these specifications, the MS-product suite meets them all."

Measuring a mere 1.75" square by .85" tall, the MS-3 laser and CCD readers weigh less than 2.5 ounces, allowing for easy mounting onto robotic equipment. The MS-3 series scanners can also be embedded into instruments, machinery, or any application requiring a small, fast, reliable bar code reader.

Microscan is a world leader in the design and development of fixed-mount bar code and 2D code readers. In 1982, Microscan revolutionized the bar code scanning industry when it designed the first scanner to use a laser diode instead of a helium neon tube. Today, Microscan products service all major industries including clinical, electronics, factory automation, document handling, packaging, and automotive. Microscan is a Spectris company.

The MS-3 product suite will be actively displayed at Total Design Solutions West in Microscan's Booth, No. 227.
