High Speed Mezzanine Connectors from Molex Feature Innovative Plated Plastic Housing for Outstanding Performance

DesignCon 2003, Santa Clara, CA. - January 28, 2003 - Achieve the fast speeds needed for today's data systems with the new Plateau HS Mezz(TM) high-speed mezzanine connector line from Molex Incorporated. Molex's advanced plastic plating technology enables this mezzanine connector to support differential data rates in excess of 10 Gigabits per second at an affordable cost. The innovative plated plastic housing provides full shielding of each pair of differential contacts. These mezzanine connectors are ideal for servers; main frame computers; work stations; test equipment; and telecommunication equipment such as routers.

Designed for stack heights from 9mm through 25mm, the Plateau HS Mezz connector system features SMT differential pairs of contacts at 1.20mm pitch with pairs at 3.50mm pitch. There are two points of contact on each signal interface for high reliability. Molded plated pegs on housing facilitate attachment to the PCB ground plane.

Pricing for the Plateau HS Mezz connector line depends on circuit size, stack height and quantity purchased. For example, when purchased in quantities of 100,000, this 24-pair/48-position connector would cost $9.12 per mated set. Typical lead time is six to eight weeks.
