Metso Automation's JAMESBURY® Valve Solutions ....

Help Meet Chlor-Alkali Plant Operational, Performance and Profitability Goals

Manual, Automated and Control Valves Meet or Exceed Safety, Uptime and Environmental Standards

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (October 13, 2006) - Metso Automation's JAMESBURY® valves, discrete automated assemblies and control valve packages offer chlor-alkali plants leading-edge valve designs, sealing technologies and automation capabilities that out-perform competitive products and are rigorously tested to meet or exceed environmental standards.

Metso Automation offers JAMESBURY ball valves, WAFER-SPHERE® high-performance valves, emission containment and emergency shut-off assemblies, as well as automated networking and modulating control packages designed for the harsh environments of chlor-alkali plants.

Among the problem solving products available are JAMESBURY DOUBLE-SEAL® full and standard bore ball valves that provide tight shut-off and minimum flow resistance. Their unique flexible-lip sealing design not only provides tight shut-off, but in the event of pressure build-up in the body, they flex and vent chlorine safely toward the high pressure (upstream) side of the valve. Additionally, JAMESBURY WAFER-SPHERE® high-performance butterfly valves are perfect for both on-off and proportional control applications. They offer ball valve performance with lower torque and a more efficient automation package.

Versatile chlor-alkali polymeric seat options for JAMESBURY DOUBLE-SEAL ball valves and WAFER-SPHERE high-performance butterfly valves include PTFE and our completely unique XTREME® seat materials. XTREME seats allow you to cover temperatures to 260°C (500°F) from a single seat material with leak-tight performance.

Metso Automation also offers a total automation, networking or control system. The CINTAC(TM) Automation System combines JAMESBURY actuator expertise with StoneL® advanced communication and control system technology, providing reliable and scalable on-off valve networking and communications solutions. New generation QPX spring-diaphragm actuators offer long life for modulating control applications. ND9000 intelligent valve controllers ensure the end product quality in all operating conditions with unique diagnostic and incomparable performance features.

JAMESBURY ball and WAFER-SPHERE high-performance butterfly valves are designed, tested and qualified to 23 internationally recognized specifications and standards including ANSI, ASTM, API, MSS and ISO to ensure that safety and environmental requirements come first.

Enhanced emissions control is available through Metso's Emission-Pak, live-loaded stem seal assembly for severe service chlor-alkali applications. Qualified to ISO 15848 (draft) for 100,000 cycles, the live-loaded mechanism offers multiple sets of packing in conjunction with lantern ring and monitoring port intended for the most demanding chlor-alkali applications.

JAMESBURY chlor-alkali valves, combined with our CINTAC Advanced Automation System, offer the most advanced shutdown package available. Wire-to-wire or network capable equipment allow shutdown on drop or loss of pneumatic power, loss of electric power, control panel signal, remote emergency signal, and motion detection. Emergency response alerts can be synchronized to these events.
