New Metering Pump Maintains Precise Feed Rate by Correcting for Changes in Pressure/Viscosity
Lansdale, PA, August 2003 - The new PZiA Electronic Metering Pump from Neptune Chemical Pump Co., Inc. is the first of its kind in the world to feature an integrated, automatic discharge volume control. Special circuitry is built into the unit to allow for on-board calibration of pump flow under actual process conditions. Once calibrated, the pump can be set to a flow rate, or an analog signal can define the flow rate. The pump will then automatically adjust to maintain the precise flow rate, automatically compensating for changes in temperature, pressure or viscosity. The PZiA Pump's accuracy has been verified by KEMA, and the unit is CE and CSA listed.
The PZiA includes a Flow Checker for verification. The Flow Checker is an oval gear meter, which transmits actual flow data to the pump controller. The pump speeds up or slows down as necessary to maintain the required flowrate. The discharge volume during calibration, the instantaneous pump flow rate, or progress during batch operation is displayed on the pump's backlit LCD display, allowing for measurement without the need for stopping pump operation.
The PZiA can also perform precise batch injection. After calibration, a specific amount to be injected is input on the screen and the pump runs as long as necessary for the oval gear meter to measure the set amount. These advanced features contribute greatly to streamlining systems and to improving quality required in production processes.
