Metcar Grade M-133 Approved by National Sanitation Foundation

Carbon-graphite material approved for use in the construction of commercial food equipment

Metcar Grade M-133, a self-lubricating carbon-graphite material, produced exclusively by Metallized Carbon Corporation, was recently approved by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) to their Standard NSF 51-2012, for materials used in the construction of commercial food equipment.

Manufactures, regulators, and customers look to NSF to develop public health standards and certifications that help protect food, water, consumer products, and the environment.  The NSF Standard 51 establishes requirements intended to ensure that a material is not formulated such that it may impart deleterious substances to food in its intended use. Materials that are approved to NSF Standard 51 must conform to all the NSF 51 food equipment standards which are based on US government standards.  Requirements include chemical migration, clean ability, and corrosion resistance.

Metcar Grade M-133 is an oil-free, self-lubricating material that is used in machine applications where rubbing or sliding is required but oil and grease lubricants cannot be used. The Company produces mechanical self-lubricating components to customer specifications. Typical applications include bearings, face seal rings, radial seal rings, piston rings, valve seats, vanes, rotors, end plates, cylinder liners, slides, runners, and scrapers.
