Lincoln Electric Introduces New Metalshield® MC-706(TM) and Metalshield® MC-6(TM) Consumables

Premium metal-cored wires offer higher deposition rates and faster travel speeds

Cleveland - Lincoln Electric has added the new Metalshield® MC-706 and Metalshield® MC-6(TM) consumables to its premium line of metal-cored wires. These consumables are designed to deliver superior arc performance for high deposition rates, fast travel speeds and Charpy V-notch toughness down to -40°C/F for applications requiring minimal amounts of spatter. The Metalshield MC-706 and the Metalshield MC-6 wires are ideal for single- and multiple-pass welds and are designed to achieve optimal performance for robotic and hard automation applications.

Metalshield MC-706 is a mild steel, metal-cored wire that provides stable arc performance with high deposition efficiencies exceeding 90 percent. This wire was specifically designed with improved arc wetting action to allow for high travel speeds. Minimal amounts of spatter and enhanced silicon island management provide decreased post clean-up time. The MC-706 is ideal for applications in the automotive and transportation, structural, shipbuilding and heavy fabrication industries.

Metalshield MC-6, also a mild steel, metal-cored wire, is designed exclusively for fast-follow welding projects. Additionally, this consumable, designed for high speed, requires minimal pre-weld preparation for enhanced ease of use. Metalshield MC-6 is ideal for automotive applications - such as joining frames - as well as structural, process piping, pressure vessel and general fabrication.

The MC-706 and MC-6 wires are recommended for use with a 75- to 95-percent argon and CO2 balance shielding gases. Additionally, both wires conform to AWS A5.18/A5.18M:2005 standards.

Both the Metalshield MC-706 and Metalshield MC-6 wires are available at a welding supply store near you. To learn more about Lincoln's Metalshield product line, call (888) 355-3213 or visit www.lincolnelectric.com to obtain Bulletin C3.11.

The Lincoln Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic arc-welding systems, plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment and has a leading global position in the brazing and soldering alloys market.
