George Fischer's New HP Butterfly Valve Features Leak-Free Design and PFA Encapsulated Disc for Ultrapure Water or Corrosive Applications

TUSTIN, Calif., - May 5, 2004 - George Fischer, Inc. has added the new high purity lug style Type 365 Butterfly Valve to its already extensive portfolio of ball, butterfly and diaphragm valves. This new valve, which features a Teflon® PFA (perfluoroalkoxy resin) encapsulated alloy steel disc with Teflon® PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) liner, is ideally suited for ultrapure water or aggressive corrosive service in semiconductor and chemical processing applications.

Manufactured with a number of features to afford customers optimum functionality, the Type 365 Butterfly Valve incorporates a unique one-piece disc-stem design that provides a leak-free mechanical stem seal. Its PFA encapsulated disc and 100 mils thick virgin PTFE liner reduces the break away stress experienced during valve opening and closing and provides maximum protection against permeation and de-lamination.

Available in 2 through 20-inch sizes with either lever or gear operators, the Type 365 Valve may also be pneumatically or electrically actuated. The high-strength valve is rated for pressures up to 150 psi and temperatures up to 400°F. Other features include self-lubricating bearings in the upper and lower stems, a steel spring, ANSI 150 both patterns, stainless steel (AISI 304) pusher, Viton® O-Ring, and silicone elastomer back-up. The two-piece body is manufactured from Ductile iron and coated with polyester ASTM A-395.

"With the addition of this new metal butterfly valve to our primarily all-plastic valve line, George Fischer customers can now purchase pipe, valves and fittings from one source, offering cost-saving economies and convenience," said John Pregenzer, Product Manager.

The George Fischer, Inc. product offering includes a full range of plastic pipe, fittings, tubing, valves, actuators, rotameters, fusion machines, secondary containment, tank linings, heat exchangers, custom products, and sensors and instrumentation for industrial process control.
