Entrust® Email Security Solution Sets Industry Milestones for Secure Boundary Email Encryption

Entrust Entelligence(TM) Messaging Server 8.0 Raises the Bar on Supporting Multiple Email Encryption Protocols With Easy to Install Appliance-Based Email Security Solution

DALLAS, Sept. 13 /-- Entrust, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTU), a world leader in securing digital identities and information, today announced the availability of Entrust Entelligence(TM) Messaging Server 8.0, a boundary email solution that offers broad support for secure email encryption protocols. Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server (EMS) 8.0 is an appliance- based email security solution, allowing for faster implementation and greater ease of administration.

Performing email encryption on messages between hundreds or thousands of partners, customers, and suppliers, using a multitude of different standards and protocols, can present a daunting challenge for any organization. Of equal concern is the need to implement an email security solution that does not adversely impact the end-user, and allows users to focus on their tasks with the knowledge that their information will be secured and protected without their direct intervention.

According to Gartner, "Because of the store-and-forward nature of email, it is highly subject to inappropriate disclosure throughout its life. Sensitive emails, such as those containing private health information, nonpublic financial information or trade secrets, should be encrypted. Limited deployment of email encryption can also be used for separation of duties to protect specific sensitive information such as executive communications from email administrators or outsourced data in certain circumstances."*

Entrust EMS 8.0 enables email encryption using the most acceptable supported method for communications to internal or external business partners, suppliers or customers by offering unprecedented flexibility around supported email encryption protocols and deployment methods. Unlike other product options in the market that require proprietary methods or are limited to offering only certain capabilities like point-to-point or boundary-based solutions, Entrust EMS 8.0 provides a standards-based email security solution that supports protocols like OpenPGP, S/MIME and Adobe(R) Portable Document Format (PDF). In addition, Entrust EMS 8.0 offers a wide range of deployment options, including desktop encryption, boundary email encryption or a combination of both, all driven by the business requirements of organizations.

This new solution is the latest addition to Entrust's email security offering, which already provides email encryption with Web-based delivery, offers content scanning and remediation, and is bundled on an established hardware platform. Entrust EMS 8.0 also supports a Microsoft(R) Certification Authority, extending the benefits to customers that have rolled out certificates to internal desktop users from a Microsoft CA.

"From a single appliance, enterprises and organizations can now leverage the benefits of email encryption with a range of flexibility and supported email protocols, for today's business environment," shared Kevin Simzer, Senior Vice President at Entrust. "Our comprehensive solution is now easier to deploy, is packaged on a robust hardware platform, and adds to an already extensive set of email security capabilities including integration with Lotus(R) Notes(R) and Domino(R) products, Microsoft Outlook and Exchange software, and the Research in Motion(R) Blackberry(R) device."

Simzer continued, "Another customer concern continues to be email administration. With EMS 8.0, we provide a comprehensive Web interface for central management, administration, and configuration of email security capabilities, while also allowing for multiple roles for segregation of administrative duties."
