Mercury Computer Systems Provides Koning Corporation with Innovative Solutions for Cutting-Edge Cone Beam CT

Medical imaging startup to integrate Mercury Visage volume rendering, workstation, thin client/server and PACS solutions

CHELMSFORD, Mass., Nov. 1 -- Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRCY) announced a multi-unit/multi-year agreement to provide a wide range of solutions with Koning Corporation, a privately held company based in Rochester, New York.

Koning Corporation, an innovator in medical imaging, is developing the next generation of CAT scanners called Cone Beam CT. The company's first system for Breast and Extremities, soon to be introduced at RSNA 2006, offers high spatial and true isotropic resolution, to provide extensive diagnostic information compared to current methods.

"Koning was initially drawn to Mercury's industry-leading volume-rendering image quality and performance," said Dr. Ruola Ning, President and Founder of Koning. "But the collaboration quickly grew to where Mercury has provided us a range of solutions that allow us to get our product to market faster and more cost-effectively compared to developing them 'in house.'"

Koning selected Mercury's award-winning Visage(TM) VR Volume Rendering components, Visage WS Workstation, and Visage CS Client/Server for a solution that covers the entire imaging workflow. The end-to-end solution enables Koning to visualize their image data locally and to transfer/network the data to various locations including Rochester and other luminary breast centers around the country. Visage CS provides advanced visualization at the operator's console, physician's review station, or various referring physician locations with simultaneous availability throughout the enterprise. With the inclusion of the Visage PACS front-end, which supports seamless DICOM and HL7 connectivity, Visage CS provides a link into the hospital HIS/RIS system for data entry and other functions. Visage PACS back-end provides full DICOM functionality to allow data to be pushed back to the HIS/RIS system for archival and general data viewing.

"Mercury is proud to empower an innovator like Koning," said Marcelo Lima, Vice President of Commercial Imaging and Visualization at Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. "With our help, Koning will be able to get their system through clinical trials sooner in order to help more patients."
