Memorex Expands Specialty Media Product Line

LAS VEGAS, DIGITAL EXPERIENCE AT CES, Jan. 7 -- Memorex, the leading brand of optical media at U.S. retail and a portfolio brand of Imation Corp (NYSE:IMN), announces several additions to its specialty optical media product family. Memorex LightScribe Cool Colors CD-R, 8X Double Layer DVD+R, and Double Layer mini DVD+R media deliver the latest optical media technology available for storing photos, music, video and data.

Memorex LightScribe Cool Colors CD-R Media
Memorex LightScribe Cool Colors CD media delivers stunning, laser-etched designs right on the disc surface, now with five vibrant, jewel-toned backgrounds. Consumers can create photo, music and data CDs with custom disc prints featuring red, orange, yellow, blue and green backgrounds using the fastest way to burn silkscreen-quality disc prints.
Forty-six percent of LightScribe CD-R packages sold at retail bear the Memorex name, according to The NPD Group, an independent market analysis firm that tracks point-of-sale information by volume and dollar sales to determine how well products are selling in the nation's top retailers. With Memorex LightScribe media and a LightScribe-enabled optical drive, consumers can create custom labels using photos, graphics and text, and then inscribe the designs directly onto the specially coated discs. Simply burn the data side of the disc as usual, then flip the disc over and use the same drive to burn a custom label. Memorex's LightScribe Cool Colors CD-Rs offer maximum data recording speeds, faster label creation and enhanced disc print images.
Memorex LightScribe Cool Colors CD-R media will be available in March in packages of 10 for a suggested retail price of $9.99 and packages of 20 for a suggested retail price of $17.99.
Memorex 8X Double Layer DVD+R Media
Memorex adds to its industry-leading double layer DVD line-up with the availability of the quickest burning double layer DVD media on the market. Memorex 8X Double Layer DVD+R media features the industry's fastest recording speeds, and allows consumers to archive up to 8.5GB of data files or 240 minutes of video in standard play mode on a single disc.
Longer continuous recording makes Memorex Double Layer DVD+R media ideal for home entertainment enthusiasts and those looking to record lengthy movies, music and sporting events with DVD-quality picture resolution. Double layer discs also can be played on most existing DVD players.
With 55 percent market share in double layer DVD media according to The NPD Group, Memorex also will continue to offer 2.4X speed media, providing consumers with more compatibility options.
Memorex 8X Double Layer DVD+R media is now available in packages of 10 for a suggested retail price of $27.99.
Memorex Double Layer mini DVD+R Media
The latest in Memorex's broad line of home video products, Memorex Double Layer mini DVD+R media delivers up to 55 minutes of continuous recording time -- with no need to flip the disc -- or 2.6GB of storage capacity for preserving precious memories and valuable data. Ideal for home video enthusiasts and professional videographers alike, the discs record at 2.4X speed and also provide a compact storage method for multimedia presentations, videos, MP3 files and other data.
The discs are compatible with select direct-to-DVD camcorders from Samsung(TM) and Sony(TM), and also work in most DVD burners and players with double layer DVD+R compatibility. At eight centimeters in diameter, these high-performance Memorex mini DVDs offer consumers an exceptional combination of performance and versatility.
A package of three Memorex Double Layer mini DVD+R discs with jewel cases will be available in February for a suggested retail price of $19.99.
