Original Press Release:

Performance Technologies' Introduces Industry's Highest Density Media Gateway Module

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 10 -- Performance Technologies (NASDAQ:PTIX), a leading developer of integrated platforms, components and software solutions, today introduced the MTN4300 Media Gateway Module. Developed by the company's Voice Technology Group, the new product is the third generation of the MTN4000 product series, delivering the industry's highest density VoIP media gateway solution in a module format.

The MTN4300 is a fully-integrated solution in PTMC format offering more than 2000 VoIP ports and complete compatibility with the company's recently announced CPC324 TDM/IP Edge Processor. With the industry's highest port density, lowest power consumption and most complete software support - including Performance Technologies' NexusWare(TM) Linux-based Operating Environment and UniPorte(TM) Media & Voice Processing Software - the MTN4300 is positioned well above competitive offerings.

Designed for ease-of-use as a stand alone drop-in solution for OEM gateways, the MTN4300 can be used in a variety of wireless and wireline, carrier-grade media gateway applications including trunk gateways, Class 5 replacement switches, digital loop carriers, access gateways, radio network controllers, mobile switching centers and base station controllers. The MTN4300 also supports complete media server functionality including conferencing, announcements, recording and CALEA (Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act) legal intercept functionality.

"The MTN4300 allows OEMs to bring media gateway products to market faster with a broader range of functionality and lower development costs," said Tim Resker, product manager for Performance Technologies' Voice Technology Group. "This product expands our comprehensive line of Advanced Managed Platforms; media gateway elements, SS7 signaling systems and PSTN access subsystem technologies built on our NexusWare and UniPorte development and provisioning software."

The MTN4300 offers a wide range of scalability between several hundred and more than two thousand VoIP ports. The mezzanine card form factor of the MTN4300 can be deployed on OEM proprietary blades or open system carrier baseboards such as the company's CPC324 Edge Processor supporting PTMC option 2 and 5 pinouts. Performance Technologies' UniPorte software delivers field- hardened functionality for media processing functions to the MTN4300 including voice coding, echo cancellation, conferencing and fax relay. Control protocols such as MGCP allow seamless integration into softswitched networks, and management interfaces such as SNMP and ICMP enable industry standard system management techniques.
