Transition Networks Unveils Miniature 10/100 Ethernet Media Converters



MINNEAPOLIS, March 7 - The conversion technology and switching expert, Transition Networks Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc., today announced the introduction of its new, miniature 10/100 Ethernet media converter. These converters provide a cost-effective method for integrating fiber optic cabling into 10/100 UTP environments, while the miniature size offers a space-saving alternative to traditional media converters.

"The 10/100 bridging media converters are some of the smallest available and provide a solution to customers who have physical space constraints. Product Features and Configuration
Customers can choose from units supporting either multimode or single mode fiber, as well as ST or SC fiber interface connectors. Several of Transition Networks' advanced features can be found in the Mini including Auto-negotiation, AutoCross, and Auto Link Restoration. Link Pass Through is also included on the models that offer alternative powering options.

All Mini converters can be powered with the included AC power adapter, while the alternative powering options include powering the unit through a USB port or through an 802.3af Power over Ethernet enabled RJ-45 port. The AC power adapter can be used simultaneously with either of these alternative powering options, providing the reliability of redundant power.
