Metrobility Introduces Class B Certification; AutoTwister(TM) Meets Stringent RFI Emissions Standards

Merrimack, NH-March 25, 2003-Metrobility Optical Systems, a leading provider of intelligent, carrier-class optical Ethernet solutions, today announced that its AutoTwister 2643 media converter meets the requirements for immunity to RFI interference as defined by FCC (US) and CISPR (Europe) Class B standards. Metrobility's Class B products make them suitable for use in businesses and medical treatment centers which are located in a residential zone as well as personal residences.

The AutoTwister is the company's most requested copper-to-fiber media converter providing auto-negotiation of both speed (10/ 100Mbps) and duplex in Ethernet and Fast Ethernet environments. The AutoTwister also offers the ability to troubleshoot and restore a link through Link Loss Return, Link Loss Carry Forward, and Auto-Recovery.1

The AutoTwister 2643 has been tested at temperature limits of -10°C (14°F) to +60°C (140°F), for those customer applications that require a temperature range wider than found in most office environments. The AutoTwister 2643 is available for both copper-to-multimode fiber and copper-to-singlemode fiber in 20km, 40km and 100km distance options, and with single-strand bidirectional wavelength capabilities.

"As conversion technology requirements extend to residential communities and medical facilities, Metrobility felt that it was imperative to offer products which can operate in a variety of environments," stated Alex Saunders, president and CEO.

The AutoTwister 2643 is available immediately. List price ranges from $399 for copper-to-multimode fiber to $2,049 for copper-to-extended long haul (100km) singlemode fiber.
