TC Communications Releases TC3240 Media Converter

October 22, 2007 - Irvine, CA - Model TC3240 10/100M 4-port Switching/Bridging Fiber Optic Ethernet Media Converter converts or connects 10/100Base-TX (UTP) networks to 100Base-FX (Fiber Optic) networks.

The TC3240 includes a built-in switch that enables distances up to 100km without additional hardware (e.g. Switch or Router). It can be managed through any Web Browser, SNMP, Telnet or Serial Console.

The TC3240 also addresses several Security issues. It allows up to four different IP address aliases, manageable privilege levels for users, and is password protected. VLAN is also implemented to secure access to the TC3240.

Rate Control, especially important to data service providers, gives users the ability to control or limit bandwidth. Data rates for Rate Control can be set in 32kbps increments. A "one fiber, bi-directional" version is available for maximizing fiber optic cable usage.

The TC3240 provides 10/100Mbps Auto-Negotiation and automatically adapts to full or half-duplex mode. Transparent to the network, it operates effectively even during high-demand traffic loads. The "Huge Frame" feature enables handling of packets up to 1916 bytes.

An Industrial Hardened version is available for harsh environments (e.g. Process Control applications in Manufacturing, Utility, SCADA, Transportation, & Traffic Control). This version complies with most pertinent environmental and temperature specifications (-40°C to 80°C).
