MCERTS-Certified Analyser Validated for Combustion Gas Analysis

Servomex has had its 2700 combustion gas analyser independently validated by Sira Certification Services. Sira carried out the validation process whilst the unit was undergoing MCERTS accreditation for oxygen analysis. Although Sira does not issue certificates for combustion gas analysers, it has prepared a report on the 2700 analyser, which is available from Servomex.

For smaller operations that are outside the scope of the Large Combustion Plant Directive (2001/80/EC) and Hazardous Waste Directive (91/689/EEC) but that have to comply with Local Authority Process Guidance Notes, the Servomex 2700 is ideal for performing the dual roles of emissions monitoring and combustion monitoring. This simplifies the plant and saves the operator money through reduced capital expenditure and maintenance costs. Typical users that will benefit include crematoria and small-scale incineration and power generation facilities.

Other applications for the Servomex 2700 analyser include general oxygen monitoring (within the range 0-25 per cent by volume) in process industries that are not obliged to use MCERTS-certified instruments but that seek independent third-party validation.

A further advantage of the Servomex 2700 is that it measures oxygen and combustibles (or carbon monoxide equivalent, COe) on a wet basis, which means that there is no need to condition the sample gas first. This avoids the added complexity associated with a sample conditioning system and means that the readings do not have to be converted from dry-basis to wet-basis, which might otherwise be a source of inaccuracy.

Thanks to the use of a close-coupled, low extracted volume design, the instrument provides fast readings (for the sensor head, T90<10s for oxygen and T90<20s for COe) without the risk of the probe blocking. In addition, the long-life, low-drift zirconia sensor (for oxygen) and catalytic sensor (for COe) help to ensure long-term reliability and a low cost of ownership.
