McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention Now Fully Integrated Within McAfee's ePolicy Orchestrator Management Console

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 21 McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:MFE), the leading dedicated security technology company, today announced general availability of McAfee(R) Host Intrusion Prevention (McAfee HIPS)v.6.0, formerly McAfee Entercept(R), that now enables comprehensive exploit protection through dynamic vulnerability shielding update capabilities and the integration of full desktop firewall functionality in a single host intrusion prevention agent. In addition, McAfee customers can now consolidate their system security management by controlling McAfee Host IPS with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator(R) (ePO(TM)).

McAfee Host IPS protects applications and data from unauthorized use and improves the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of a company's critical business processes. McAfee Host IPS is fully integrated into McAfee ePO, enabling all system security products from McAfee anti-virus, anti- spyware, anti-spam, host intrusion prevention, and network access control to be managed through a single console for accurate, scalable and easy-to-use system protection. McAfee Host IPS continues to offer the industry's most advanced zero-day protection through combined behavioral, signature and desktop firewall functionality reducing the urgency and frequency of system patches.

"We have McAfee Host IPS deployed for a proactive protection approach to our critical servers and desktops, especially from application-layer threats." said Douglas Shew, Director of IS at Affinity Health System. "Now that it is integrated with ePO we will be able to have centralized management for all of our system security products and receive the most comprehensive system protection available on the market."

McAfee Host IPS provides the industry's most comprehensive, accurate, and scalable host intrusion prevention solution for critical systems and applications. The award-winning technology provides unmatched, 'out-of-the- box' protection against unknown vulnerabilities, such as buffer overflow and zero-day attacks.

"McAfee has seen a significant uptake in the IDS/IPS market in the last couple of years, and by integrating Host IPS into ePolicy Orchestrator we're confident that they will remain a strong player in this market for the foreseeable future," said Robert Ayoub, network security analyst for Frost & Sullivan. "The combination of a strong host-based solution with a network intrusion prevention product is one of the many reasons that McAfee was a clear winner for the Frost and Sullivan technology leadership Award in 2005."

Key features of McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention include:
-- Integrated Management. McAfee Host IPS integrates into McAfee's system security management console ePolicy Orchestrator, which also manages anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam and network access control. This integration provides one simple interface for managing an entire system-level security solution.
-- Vulnerability Shielding. Automatic security content updates, similar to McAfee's AV signature files, target specific vulnerabilities so they will recognize the behavior of all unknown exploits trying to take advantage of that vulnerability and stop them from executing. Security content updates are easily deployed through McAfee ePO and do not require reboot of the end system.
-- Combined Behavioral, Signature and Desktop Firewall Protection. McAfee Host IPS monitors and blocks intrusions by combining signature and behavioral protection with a system firewall. A single agent makes it easy to deploy, configure, and manage -- and patching becomes less frequent and less urgent.
-- Advanced Server Protection. McAfee Host IPS provides advanced system protection for threats such as remote SQL or HTTP injection attacks. Its enveloping and shielding capabilities prevent the compromise of applications and their data, as well as prevent the application from being used to attack other applications.
-- Corporate Data Protection: McAfee Host IPS enables you to control the use of USB storage devices, helping prevent the propagation of malware and thwart internal data theft.

"McAfee Host IPS delivers on McAfee's promise of complete product integration and solution management through a single customer interface," said Steve Crutchfield, director of product marketing at McAfee, Inc. "McAfee Host IPS saves money and time because its single agent for host intrusion prevention and desktop firewall allow for easy deployment, configuration and management. It is the only solution of its kind that combines signature, behavioral and firewall protection, and that is completely integrated with other security solutions through a single management console."

McAfee Host IPS will be available through McAfee channel partners beginning February 22, 2006.
