Mazu Networks Announces Mazu Profiler(TM) Version 6.0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 14 -- Mazu Networks, the leading provider of behavior-based network security solutions, today announced the release of Mazu Profiler(TM) version 6.0, a Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) system that provides enterprises with: extended network visibility; increased protection against worms and insider threats as well as improved audit and enforcement capabilities of internal controls to expedite regulatory compliance efforts. Through the enhanced features including configurable dashboards, vulnerability scanner integration and extensive storage for historical flow data, Mazu Profiler version 6.0 cements the role of NBA systems in the new defense-in-depth security architecture.

"There are significant holes in traditional defense-in-depth architectures which focus only on perimeter and endpoint security, leaving the internal network unprotected. These holes have greatly contributed to the success rate of past attacks including the recent Zotob worm assault," said Jon Oltsik, senior analyst, information security, Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). "This is due to the fact that many organizations still lack the network visibility needed to respond to malicious activity on their critical infrastructures. Not having this network intelligence and availability not only places them at significant security risk, but it also impedes their ability to meet growing and increasingly rigorous regulatory compliance requirements. Mazu Profiler version 6.0 responds to this market need by providing customers with the increased network visibility, protection and regulatory controls to ease their security, operations and compliance efforts."

As the new foundation of the defense-in-depth security architecture, Mazu Profiler further reinforces the product's critical position in this strategy through the following feature updates available in version 6.0:

o Network Visibility
Configurable Dashboards -- The configurable dashboards enable security,
operations and audit teams to benefit from the network visibility that
Mazu Profiler provides. It extends the value of Mazu Profiler to
different groups within the organization, providing them with specific
consoles that display a network view customized to their specific
monitoring needs.

o Network Protection
Integration with Vulnerability Scanning Solutions -- Through the
integration with vulnerability scanners, Mazu Profiler version 6.0
provides more actionable information in alerts to accelerate the
remediation process. This functionality enables customers to
characterize the hosts involved and provide visibility into the
vulnerabilities that caused the event, thereby enabling faster
corrective actions.

o Compliance Readiness
Increased Storage for Flow Data -- Mazu Profiler's increased support
for Network-Attached Storage (NAS) devices provides customers with
significant storage space for more detailed and historical flow logs.
This increase in storage space enables customers to generate more
detailed reports on flow data from specific time periods. Being able to
create reports with this level of accuracy will greatly aid customers
in their regulatory compliance efforts.

"The increased adoption of NBA technology demonstrates the market's need for security products that can both work with existing infrastructure as well as prove beneficial to various groups within an organization," said Paul Brady, CEO, Mazu Networks. "Mazu Profiler version 6.0 answers that call by providing enterprises with a technology that works across security, operations and audit groups thereby enabling an organization to achieve multiple business objectives such as improved protection, operations and compliance initiatives. As such, Mazu Profiler version 6.0 solidifies the product's role within the mainstream and reinforces its critical position in the new defense-in-depth security architecture."

Mazu Profiler analyzes network traffic and behavior to provide enterprises with the intelligence required to operate internal networks more securely. By examining all internal traffic and analyzing anomalous behavior, Mazu Profiler provides security, network and audit teams with: visibility into how the network is used; protection from worms and insider breaches and compliance assistance through the audit and enforcement of internal controls.

Availability

Mazu Profiler version 6.0 will ship on December 22 and will be available through the Mazu Networks sales channels. For more information visit: www.mazunetworks.com/.
