Mazak Florida Distributor Unbridled Technologies Hosts Grand Opening
New facility further intensifies sales, service and support for area customers
FLORENCE, Ky. – Mazak’s footprint in Florida continues to expand with the grand opening of a new Unbridled Technologies (U Tech) facility in Tampa. As an integral part of Mazak’s distribution network, Unbridled Technologies and its new technical center will give area customers easy access to even more advanced metalworking technology, experienced applications engineering support and training.
On March 10, Unbridled Technologies will host a special Grand Opening Event at the new facility. Local manufacturers are invited to attend and experience some of the latest technology from Mazak, including its evolutionary SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY. Making its debut in Florida, SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY is an all-encompassing concept that combines the advanced capabilities of today’s machine tools, leading-edge CNC processing and software technologies. SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY includes Mazak's new MAZATROL SmoothX CNC machine tool control to be demonstrated on a special simulator for hands-on interaction during the event.
Unbridled Technologies will also demonstrate the production power of Mazak’s QUICK TURN NEXUS (QTN) 250MSY Multi-Tasking Machine and the VERTICAL CENTER NEXUS (VCN) COMPACT. The space saving, high-speed VCN COMPACT is a 5-axis, 40-taper spindle Vertical Machining Center. It features a backlash-free NC rotary/tilt table as standard and provides fast cycle times and precision part surface contouring capability for small, complex parts such as those typical in the medical manufacturing industry.
For Done In One® precision part processing, Mazak’s QTN 250MSY packs two turning spindles, a rotary tool milling spindle and Y-axis capabilities. The machine’s headstock features a 10" main chuck mounted on a 35-hp, 4,000-rpm integrated spindle motor for heavy-duty metal removal. To effectively tackle today’s higher alloy part materials, Mazak recently bumped up the torque output of the spindle by almost 30 ft-lbs for a total torque rating of 368 ft-lbs.
Cutting tool manufacturer Sandvik Coromant, one of Mazak’s Value Inspired Partners (VIP), will also be in attendance during the event to discuss the latest in tooling technology and offer application advice. Additionally, Mazak VIP partner LNS America will be on hand to discuss barfeeders, chip conveyors, workholding and other machine tool peripherals. As VIPs, Sandvik Coromant and LNS America will work with Mazak and Unbridled Technologies to help provide Florida manufacturers with total solutions. Mazak’s VIP program promotes higher levels of cooperation among companies offering complementary manufacturing products.
The Unbridled Technologies facility, as well as Mazak’s Technology Center in Atlanta, has the capacity to develop and prove out turnkey manufacturing systems and provide complete application and project support. Located one mile off I-75, the new Unbridled Technologies facility will be used for free training, technical seminars, machine demonstrations and engineering. Currently, five sales professionals, four service technicians, two customer assistants and one manager will support these company activities.
