MaxLite Saves Maryland Homeowner Nearly $10,000 in Energy with Outdoor Lighting Retrofit

“Before, the light bulbs were blowing out left and right, and maintenance was a nightmare. The new long-life LED lights are durable and so bright that you can see the fountain clearly in the pitch-dark night down the quarter-mile path that leads from the back courtyard. The view is so striking that it looks like a hologram to see the lights around the fountain glow and the water sparkle from such a far distance. The owner loved the end result so much he called me in the middle of the night to come over and see how it looked. It was surreal.”

-- Shane Hresko, CEO of Bmore Green

The Challenges

The owner of Radcliffe Jewelers, a premier retailer of luxury merchandise in Towson, MD, was in need of new lighting fixtures that save energy and reduce maintenance and replacement time. The homeowners had to change out the lamps two to three times per year for special occasions, oftentimes finding the bulbs blown out. Then even once they replaced the bulbs, sometimes the bulbs would work and other times they would not, or they would soon burn out again.

The Solution

At the end of a quarter-mile path that cuts through the woods and leads to a courtyard and the owner’s sprawling mansion in Ruxton, MD, lays a large white fountain with an open-winged swan at its center. Bmore Green replaced two 500-watt metal halide flood lights with two of MaxLite’s 30-watt LED Small Flood Lights that illuminate the fountain at night. In this same location, two 150-watt metal halide flood lights were replaced with two of MaxLite’s 14-watt LED Small Flood Lights.

The Benefits

Mr. Hresko said that the former lighting fixtures would have to be replaced multiple times per year, wasting much time and effort to illuminate the outdoor landscape. The durable fixtures are constructed of heavy-duty cast aluminum IP65-rated sealed housings that are powder-coated to protect against rust and corrosion throughout the long 50,000-hour life, which equates to nearly six years operating 24 hours per day. Additionally, MaxLite’s 14- and 30-watt LED Small Flood Lights will save the homeowner $2,714 and $7,175 in energy respectively throughout its lifetime, for a total of $9,889 in energy savings alone.
