MaxLite's Puck Lamp is First Enclosed-rated LED Lamp to Be Certified for Use in ENERGY STAR® Luminaires

WEST CALDWELL, N.J. — MaxLite is proud to announce its LED Puck Lamp as the industry’s first GU24-base light source rated for use in fully enclosed luminaires to earn placement on the ENERGY STAR Certified Subcomponent Database (CSD).

This achievement will reduce costs in ENERGY STAR testing and dramatically reduce the time it takes for manufacturers of lighting fixtures such as coach lanterns, closet lights, ceiling fixtures and enclosed decorative fixtures to complete the certification process by incorporating MaxLite’s CSD-listed lamps into their products. Prior to this introduction, there was no GU-24 base LED lamp available on the CSD that could be used in fully enclosed luminaires. The LED Puck Lamp delivers up to 850 lumens, equivalent to the light from a 60W incandescent lamp, from a source about the size of a hockey puck.

“By being the first high-lumen, replaceable light source with such a unique, compact form factor and enclosed rating, the Puck Lamp can be used in fixtures where most other light sources cannot,” said Chris Primous, vice president of OEM sales. “Moreover, achieving third-party certification for use in ENERGY STAR luminaires greatly assists manufacturers’ testing processes, and demonstrates MaxLite’s strong commitment to the ENERGY STAR program.”

Available in two bases (GU24 and E26) and two correlated color temperatures (2700K, 3000K), the Puck Lamp was designed to provide efficient, quality LED lighting for shallow fixtures such as closet lights, ceiling fans, outdoor porch lights and torchieres. The compact lamp was designed with a proprietary heat sink, which minimizes thermal levels and facilitates proper ventilation and heat dissipation away from the LEDs and electrical circuitry, enabling its use in fully enclosed luminaires. The Puck is dimmable with standard incandescent-type dimmers, and safety listed for use in damp locations.

In total, MaxLite has 16 GU24 lamps and six LED light engines on the CSD, available to ease manufacturers’ processes when trying to develop ENERGY STAR certified LED luminaires. Earlier this year, MaxLite introduced the industry’s first GU24 LED BR30 lamp and the Lighting For Tomorrow award-winning 17W LED Omnidirectional lamp, which emits over 1600 lumens, to the CSD. MaxLite also recently brought the industry’s first ENERGY STAR certified LED torchiere to the market.
