MaxLite's ECO-T(TM) LED Recessed Troffer Chosen as Money-Saving Product by BUILDINGS Magazine
West Caldwell, New Jersey - MaxLite®, a global manufacturer and marketer of energy efficient lighting, announces that BUILDINGS magazine has selected the ECO-T™ LED Recessed Troffer as a 2013 Money-Saving Product winner. MaxLite’s ECO-T LED Recessed Troffer is part of an elite group of 53 products that were showcased in the magazine’s June 2013 issue.

Finalists were evaluated by the BUILDINGS editorial staff for the money-saving qualities they offer to building owners and facility managers in areas such as energy consumption, water savings, lighting, envelope improvement, and maintenance.

Offering a classic recessed troffer housing with LED strips that emulate fluorescent lamps, the 55-watt 2’x4’ model can replace a 175-watt 2’x4’ fluorescent troffer in gridded T-bar ceilings in commercial and institutional applications, saving 6,000 kWh of energy over the lifetime of the product. Featured in the DesignLights™ Consortium’s (DLC) Qualified Products List (QPL), the ECO-T is also available in a 45-watt 2’x2’ option, both having a life expectancy of 50,000 hours, equating to more than 15 years of maintenance-free operation (based on nine hours of daily use). By contrast, a fluorescent troffer’s 6,000-hour lifespan only provides about two years of operation.
Unlike fluorescent fixtures which waste energy, throwing as much as 50 percent light upward towards the ceiling, the ECO-T emits 90 percent of the light in a downward 60-degree beam angle so all of the projected lighting is effectively directed onto surfaces or tabletops.
