Matrox® Imaging Products Being Shown at Automate by Distributor North Coast Technical

3D scanning and defect detection focus of North Coast’s demonstrations

MONTREAL - April 4, 2017 - North Coast Technical, Inc., a Matrox® Imaging distributor (Chesterland, OH), is on hand at Automate 2017 demonstrating both 3D scanning and defect detection using Matrox Imaging technology.

Based out of the Imperx booth (# 2540), North Coast Technical is employing a Matrox SuperSight high-performance computing (HPC) platform, a Matrox Radient eV-CL Camera Link® frame grabber and the Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) 10 SDK along with the Chromasens 3DPIXA 3D Stereo Color Line Scan Camera. Moving along a linear plane, samples are being scanned in 3D in order to create a heightmap, which is then analysed using MIL vision tools. As in the past, North Coast is allowing customers to bring parts with them to the show in order to have them scanned.

Matrox Supersight is a configurable high-performance computing (HPC) platform supporting one or more System Host Boards (SHBs) with an Intel® Core® processor, third-party GPUs and Matrox FPGA boards for the most demanding industrial imaging applications.

Matrox Radient eV-CL is a cost-effective, high-performance, and dependable frame grabber for the Camera Link interface standard. The eV-CL allows the most high-performance Camera Link cameras with support available for Full and 80-bit mode at up to 85 MHz.

Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) is a comprehensive collection of software tools for developing industrial imaging applications. MIL includes tools for every step in the process: from application feasibility, to prototyping, through to development, and ultimately deployment. MIL has tools for locating, inspecting and measuring off of images as well as reading ID marks in these. MIL works with 2D, color and 3D images.

In a second demonstration, North Coast is showing an application doing fine detail inspection using an Imperx Cheetah 25 Megapixel GigE Vision® camera that was developed using Matrox Design Assistant 5 vision software. Capturing images of the product using a high-resolution camera, the demo system will move an x-y table to random positions in order to demonstrate the ability to observe flaws at any location in the field of view.

Matrox Design Assistant is the first hardware-independent integrated development environment (IDE) that lets users create an application flowchart and HMI and take machine vision projects from concept to completion in record time, without the need for conventional programming.

Matrox Imaging will also be on hand at their own booth (#2424) showing both a Matrox Design Assistant container integrity and marking inspection project and a MIL 10 3D profiling project.
