Materials of Construction Change for 1-1/2" and 2" NPT Normally Closed Direct Pilot Operated Poppet Valves

Due to the ever increasing costs for raw materials, we have found it necessary to make a change to the materials used in the production of our Poppet Valves in the two larger port size offerings. We have made this change (which has been seamless to the distributor and customer) in an effort to keep any price increases at a tolerable level. As you all know, we recently implemented a price increase. By changing the materials used in the production of these models, we were able to keep the price increase in line with the average five percent that was passed along.

What Changed?

The original standard valves had a brass pilot cap, brass piston tube and brass piston. The current standard version will have a gold anodized aluminum pilot cap (to keep the appearance nearly the same as the brass), an aluminum piston and a tube made from a composite material. The new materials to be used during manufacturing will not change the operating parameters of these valves. The pressure ratings of the main valve body and the pilot chamber, the working temperature, etc remain unchanged. The only difference is that if you are using water or other corrosive fluids as your pilot media, you will now need to order the valve with a "B" suffix which means that you will receive the original brass parts (this material change makes them equivalent to their smaller port size stable mates in this respect).

The only part numbers that were affected are:

Standard Ratio Valves - 334724 and 334732

High Ratio Valves - 334524 and 324532

Some special versions could be affected as well. We have tried to look at special part numbers to determine if this change would be acceptable where we were aware of the application. If you are currently buying any special versions of the 1-1/2" or 2" NPT models and we have not contacted you, please review this bulletin and then contact me if there is any issue.

We have updated the "Specifications and Model Numbers" page from our website for the Direct Pilot Operated, 2-way, normally closed valves so it now includes the "Pilot Cylinder Tube" materials.
