Materials are offered in varying densities for design work.

Press Release Summary:

Medium Density Epoxy SRP boards, used for creating design models, have 42 lb/ft³ density and 68 Shore D hardness. Resistant to organic solvents, they offer heat resistance greater than 284ºF. Used for creating styling models or negative molds for casting, Ultra Low Density Urethane SRP boards have 15 lb/ft³ density and 27 Shore D hardness. Suited for milling foundry patterns and core boxes, High Density Urethane SRP boards offer 75 lb/ft³ density and 85 Shore D hardness.

Roland Offers Three New SRP Materials

Irvine, CA. June 24, 2003 Roland DGA Corporation, a worldwide leader in Subtractive Rapid Prototyping (SRP) and Reverse Engineering solutions, has expanded its lineup of SRP materials with Medium Density Epoxy, Ultra Low Density Urethane and High Density Urethane.

"These new materials allow designers to do so much more," said Laura Wilson, Roland Product Manager. "Potential applications range from concept models to fully functional prototypes."

Medium Density Epoxy SRP boards are ideal for creating design models, as they shape easily and yield low amounts of dust particles. These lightweight, blue boards have a density of 42 lbs/ft³ and a hardness of 68 Shore D. They are resistant to organic solvents and offer heat resistance greater than 284ºF (140ºC). The boards have a list price of $129.99 for a box of six 4"x6"x2" blocks.

Ultra Low Density Urethane SRP boards were developed for creating styling models or negative molds for casting. These economical, light green-colored boards are easy to machine. With a density of 15 lbs/ft³ and a hardness of 27 Shore D, they are lightweight but still offer a solid surface structure. They have a list price of $59.99 for six 4"x6"x2" blocks and $149.95 for a box of five 2"x12"x7" boards.

High Density Urethane SRP boards are extremely tough and abrasion resistant. Available in red, they have a density of 75 lbs/ft³ and a hardness of 85 Shore D. They are excellent for milling foundry patterns and core boxes. This material has also been used successfully to thermoform clear plastic parts. These boards exhibit good temperature resistance and can be polished to a luster finish. With first-rate edge definition and dimensional stability, they have a list price of $119.99 for a box of five 4"x6"x2" blocks.

In addition to these three new materials, which are currently available, Roland also offers Low Density Urethane SRP boards, Medium Density Urethane boards and Modeling Wax. All Roland SRP materials are compatible with Roland MDX-650, MDX-500, MDX-20 and MDX-15 SRP milling devices.
