Innova-Mass® Multivariable Vortex Mass Flow Meter Incorporates AGA-8 Equations and HART Protocol
Sierra Instruments Inc. of Monterey, California has announced the release of their new HART-compliant Innova-Mass® line of multivariable vortex mass flow meters.
To simplify custody transfer operations and improve billing accuracy, the Innova-Mass flow computer incorporates algorithms for monitoring natural gases as specified by AGA Report No.8.
Full implementation of HART Protocol provides access to all measured variables and programming menus and permits field-configuration without disruption of the existing measurement signal. The flow meter can be configured directly from the control panel or workstation, or with the HART 275 Communicator.
Innova-Mass provides outputs for five process variables - mass flow rate, volumetric flow rate, temperature, pressure, and fluid density. Complete self-diagnostics and configuration capability for outputs, ranges, engineering units and totalization can be accessed locally or remotely. The instrument's diagnostics module also includes a fault log and a forcing function to test meter outputs.
Innova-Mass utilizes three primary sensing elements to measure the mass flow rate of gases, liquids, and steam: a vortex shedding velocity sensor, an RTD temperature sensor and a solid-state pressure transducer. The meter's ability to sense all process variables in a single location improves measurement accuracy and eliminates the requirement for additional line penetrations.
Innova-Mass is available in sizes from 1/2-inch to 8-inches, or as an insertion-type meter with either flanged packing-gland or compression-fitting process connections. Optional retractor or "hot tap" hardware facilitates installation and maintenance.
