Marvell G.hn-Certified Chipset Powers Netwave's Home Connectivity Solutions
Award-winning silicon enables high-speed access to multimedia content over any wires in the connected home
SANTA CLARA, Calif. and LAS VEGASÂ – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced that Netwave has selected Marvell's award-winning and HomeGrid Forum-certified G.hn chipset for its powerline to Ethernet adapter. Netwave joins the growing list of ODM and OEM partners implementing Marvell's G.hn transceiver into digital home products, accelerating global adoption of the extensible, ITU-T standards-based G.hn technology. G.hn enables fast and powerful connectivity, at data rates up to 1 Gbit/s over standard home wiring, including electrical wires, coaxial cables, twisted pair and optical fiber, for the delivery of Ultra-HD content to Smart TVs and other digital lifestyle devices.
Netwave's powerline to Ethernet adapter NPA-100 is based on Marvell's G.hn module, which includes the Marvell® 88LX3142 G.hn digital baseband processor and the Marvell 88LX2718 G.hn analog front end. The Netwave adapter is the first G.hn home-networking product available in Korea, and is specially targeted for the service provider market. The NPA-100 has been jointly developed with the Network Technology R&D Center of SK Telecom and is currently under field trial.
"G.hn provides unparalleled connectivity performance that is unmatched in the industry today," said Sean Lee, Director of Netwave. "By implementing Marvell's certified G.hn chipset, Netwave is confident that we are providing the best communications platforms for the delivery of high-bandwidth multimedia applications."
"Marvell is pleased to collaborate with Netwave on delivering powerful connectivity solutions that leverage the speed and flexibility of our G.hn silicon," said Winston Chen, vice president of the Smart Home Business Unit at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. "G.hn is the backbone technology that powers high speed access to robust multimedia applications. Together with our partners, we are extremely proud of the progress we have made on integrating G.hn in devices for the connected home."
Since its debut in 2011 with the Best Electronic Design Award, Marvell's G.hn silicon has been one of the most mature and robust G.hn silicon on the market and has continued to gain several industry accolades. In April 2012 Marvell's G.hn chipset won a Connected Home Award and in November 2012 Marvell became the first silicon vendor worldwide to achieve the ITU-T G.hn compliant silicon certification from the HomeGrid Forum, paving the way for mass deployments by OEMs of G.hn systems based on the Marvell technology. In May 2013, Marvell G.hn chipset was selected as a Gold Winner in the networking category for 2013 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards by Network Products Guide, the IT industry's leading technology research and advisory guide and in November 2013 was selected as Silver Stevie Winner by the American Business Awards.
Marvell will showcase its award-winning and certified G.hn chipset together with its equipment manufacturer partners during CES, January 7-10, 2014 in Las Vegas, at Murano Rooms 3304-3306 of the Venetian Congress Center, Level 3 and also at HomeGrid Forum Booth #21424 in the South Hall of Las Vegas Convention Center.
