Original Press Release:

New Marking System For Metal Tags Introduced By Matthews International Reduces Downtime

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, March 21, 2002 - A new marking system that automatically feeds, marks and ejects metal tags and reduces downtime - the ProPoint(TM) Tag Marking System - is now available from Matthews International.

Featuring a conveying system that eliminates the common problem of tag jamming, the ProPoint has a magazine capacity ranging from 90 to 225 tags, can handle steel, stainless steel, brass and aluminum materials, mark an area of 2" x 4", tag sizes of from 1" x 3" to 2" x 4", and a print speed of three .125" dot-matrix font characters per second maximum, the new stand alone marking system features custom software and the capability of marking date, time, and serial number with high efficiency.

Instead of conveying the tags for marking under the unit from left to right, in Matthews' system a stacked table of tags lifts to the stylus marker, which prevents conveyor jams and also allows a smooth operation. This eliminates the possibility of bending or out-of-spec tags. It comes with an adjustable magazine feeder for different size tags and an illuminated marking and loading area. Print size is from .031" to 2".

The system operates on 110/230 volt AC current and on air pressure of 100 psi maximum.
