Marking System allows automatic part traceability.

Press Release Summary:

Mark and Read combines marking of 2-dimensional data-matrix code with reading and verification of that code. Parts can be marked with dot peen or laser, while tracking is handled through use of cameras. System makes it possible to track marked piece throughout manufacturing cycle. Information read from 2D code is transmitted and saved to database in real-time at each step in production process. System can be used with company's Micro-Percussion marking units.

Technifor Introduces 'Mark and Read' Part Marking and Verification System

Charlotte, NC April 14, 2003...Technifor, world leader in direct part marking by Micro-Percussion(TM), has launched its new "Mark and Read" system that combines the marking of a two-dimensional Data Matrix code with the reading and verification of that code (including code quality). Parts can be marked with dot peen or a laser, while the tracking is handled through the use of cameras. In partnership with industrial vision specialists, the vision system makes it possible to track a marked piece using Data Matrix codes throughout the manufacturing cycle, and when required, throughout the entire product life cycle up to the point when the product is scrapped. This new method of automatic part traceability is very reliable and secure, since the information read from the 2D code is transmitted and saved to a database in real-time at each step in the production process. In addition, the large amount of information that can be stored in the 2D code creates a portable database that is permanently attached to the part. The Mark and Read system can be used with Technifor integrated and stand alone Micro-Percussion marking units.

Technifor is one of the world's leading manufacturer's of electronically controlled permanent, ultra-fast marking systems utilizing Micro-Percussion(TM) technology for identification on metal or plastic parts. Technifor machines are available as stand alone and integrated units for use in bench, manufacturing cells or automated production line applications.
