FlexLink Launches Expanded RMS - Re-Configurable Manufacturing Solutions

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA - FlexLink Systems Inc. announces the newly expanded line of re-configurable manufacturing systems (RMS) that includes integrated conveyor modules and manufacturing logistics software. Companies can purchase these systems module by module for a true plug-and-play assembly process. The unique benefit of this approach is that each section of the system is stand-alone with its own controls and is connected to other modules via a communication and power cable. Lines can be set up very fast and without the difficulties and time constraints of traditional hard assembly machines.

RMS is operated, in some instances, without software (such as a straight progressive assembly line) or, in cases where control and tracking of the pallet is needed, is operated with the RMS software. RMS software offers the customer the ability to route pallets (each pallet can have a separate route through the system), provides operator work instruction, inventory tracking and connectivity to the product, as well as line statistics and real time communication with the customers MES or ERP system. RMS can be operated in batch or mixed production modes.

RMS can be expanded to include pick-to-light systems for pallet kitting, or point of use picking to ensure that the correct components are picked at an assembly operation. RMS also includes a host of automation modules that are modular and can be added or removed as necessary.

RMS has been implemented by FlexLink for medical device manufacturing, electronic product assembly and consumer product manufacturing. The medical device manufacturing systems supplied must comply with the FDA requirements for tracking product assembly, electronic signature and other stringent requirements. RMS pallets are controlled by RF technology readers and the RMS user interface is a user- friendly PC-based system.
