Manual Micro Positioning Stages have accuracy within 2 µm.

Press Release Summary:

Manual positioners employ positive spring-loaded carriage that provides smooth motion with no backlash. Offered with 80 thread/in. lead screw drives and covered rails, they can combine to create 2- or 3-axis positioners. Size A stages travel 0.125 in. with max runout of 1 µm, return force of 113-312 g, and direct top or side load capacity of 0.25 kg. Size B stages travel 0.500 in. with max runout of 1.5 µm, return force of 170-567 g, and direct top or side load capacity of 0.34 kg.

Edmund Industrial Optics Announces Manual Micro Positioning Stages

Jan 10, 2003, Barrington, NJ - Edmund Industrial Optics (EO) of Barrington, New Jersey has announced the release of two sizes of very small manual positioners, which provide a straight line accuracy within 2 µm. The micropositioning stages use a positive spring-loaded carriage to provide precise, smooth motion with no backlash. They feature a fine, 80 thread/inch lead screw drive, and are available with covered rails. The stages can be combined to create two or three axis positioners.

The Stage Size A travels 0.125 in., with a maximum runout of 1 µm, return force (from extended to compressed) of 113 to 312 g, and a direct top or side load capacity of 0.25 kg. The stage weighs 3 g (or 4 g, for the covered rail option) and measures 1.03 X 0.44 X 0.20 in.

The extended-travel version -- which is no larger than the regular version -- travels 0.225 in, with a maximum runout of 1.5 µm, and a return force of 170 to 510 g. The stage weighs 2.5 g.

The Stage Size B is designed for longer travel, higher load applications: it travels 0.500 in., with a maximum runout of 1.5 µm, return force of 170-567 g, and direct top or side load capacity of 0.34 kg. The B stage weighs 16 g (or 20 g with covered rails), and measures 1.74 X 0.66 X 0.29 in.

The stages have fully metric-compatible clearance holes. They can be combined with Edmund's Micro Manual Rotary Mount. Accessories, including pinhole adapters, breadboard mounting plates, and microscope objective adapters, allow users to mount precision pinholes for spatial filtering applications.
