Major Gulf Coast Refiner Uses In-Line Viscosity Control for Diesel Fuel Refining

Boston, MA - A major international oil company has purchased a third in-line process viscometer from Cambridge Viscosity to monitor the viscosity of diesel fuel blending for their Texas gulf coast refinery.

Prior to purchasing the viscometers, refinery technicians would pull samples hourly and send them to the lab for testing. Not only was this a time-consuming and labor intensive process, if a sample was out of spec, the whole batch was rejected for re-blending or further processing, a costly and lengthy undertaking for the refinery. The Cambridge viscometers provide accurate, real-time viscosity readings to prevent any batch rejection and the units' self-cleaning feature eliminates maintenance issues.
