OPEX Corp. Launches New Mail Sorting System, Using Intelligent Robotic Vehicles to Process Mixed Mail in a Single Pass

MOORESTOWN, N.J., Jan. 15 /- OPEX Corporation has introduced Mail Matrix, a compact, new mixed-mail sorting system that uses iBOTs (Intelligent Robotic Wireless Vehicles) to efficiently sort a broad range of media and address formats in a single pass. The iBOTs quickly sort mail into a matrix of front and rear delivery bins, eliminating reliance on operator memory.

A recognized global technology leader in high-speed digital mailroom automation and document image capture solutions, OPEX's newest innovation for 2007, Mail Matrix, can process up to 25,000 mixed-mail pieces per shift, including letters, flats, magazines, newspapers, accountable mail, small parcels and interoffice mail, all in a single pass, into 1,020 maximum destinations. "The compactness of the equipment with unmatched mixed media-handling and single pass sorting into front and rear delivery bins using iBOTs is unprecedented," explained OPEX CEO Mark Stevens. With Mail Matrix, tight deadlines and multiple variables are no longer a mailroom challenge for medium to large, centralized corporations, universities, hospitals, government agencies, service bureaus and wholesale lockbox processors.

"Ease and flexibility of operation, and low maintenance were key goals in developing Mail Matrix," added Stevens. Delivery bins and feed rates are scalable, at 30-1,020 bins, and 600-3,600 pieces/hour (1 piece/second). A user-friendly Windows interface allows operators to schedule, modify, update and maintain a database of sorting jobs. An expansive range of options for sorting by name, department, P.O. Box, building, division, mail stop and other criteria exists. Organizational databases in various formats can be imported into the job setup to create and execute a wide range of sorting rules.

Mail Matrix is capable of dependable, low-maintenance operation in any number of working environments. Mixed mail is sorted directly into delivery bins, designed to simplify removal by mailroom sweepers. Precision Optical Character Recognition and accountable mail processing, across multiple feed modes are other features of Mail Matrix. Optional 90 delivery bin expansion modules, additional iBOTs, and an image capture system are also available.
