Magnetic Switch Sensors offer high-speed measurement, low power.

Press Release Summary:

Available in SOT-23 or TO-92 package, TMR (Tunneling Magnetoresistance) sensors include omnipolar MMS2X1H and bipolar MMS1X1H. Both are designed for battery-powered smart flowmeters, including water, heat, and gas flowmeters, and consume 1.5 µA in continuous operation. Exhibiting thermal stability from -40 to +125°C as well as immunity to external magnetic field interference, sensors offer high-speed measurement with 1 kHz frequency response.

MDT Introduces Ultra-Low Power TMR Magnetic Switch Sensors

TMR Magnetic Switch Sensors Feature Unparalleled Ultra-Low Power and High Performance for Smart Flow Meters

NUREMBURG, Germany and ZHANGJIAGANG, China -- At the SENSOR+TEST 2013 international trade fair, MultiDimension Technology (MDT) will introduce new TMR magnetic switch sensors, featuring a collection of outstanding performance benefits including ultra-low power consumption, high frequency response, excellent thermal stability and etc. They are designed for battery-powered smart flow meters, including water flow meters, heat flow meters and gas flow meters. MDT is a leading supplier of Tunneling Magnetoresistance sensors (TMR sensors).

The new additions to MDT's existing TMR sensor portfolio are the MMS2X1H omnipolar switch and MMS1X1H bipolar switch, for use in battery-powered magnetic sensor applications including smart flow meters and proximity switches. They feature ultra-low power consumption at 1.5 microamperes in continuous operation, enabling high-speed measurement and extended battery life simultaneously.  Unlike other magnetic switches that must employ power-cycling or sleeping modes to reduce power, MDT's TMR magnetic switch sensors exhibit ultra-low power consumption during high-speed continuous operation.

"MDT's new TMR magnetic switch sensors provide the best value to applications that are both power-critical and performance-demanding. They are the first-ever magnetic sensors that offer a unique combination of critical performance metrics. The collective benefit of ultra-low power and high-frequency operation in our TMR magnetic switch sensors is unprecedented.  It is not possible with other existing magnetic sensor technologies, including Anisotropic Magnetoresistance (AMR), Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR), or the Hall Effect." said Dr. Song Xue, Chairman and CEO of MultiDimension Technology. "They will deliver added values to smart flow meters and other high-end applications, by offering an integrated solution that does all our customers need in a single and compact sensor IC."

TMR technology has been widely used in the magnetic disk-drive industry. It has been proven a high-performance, power-efficient, cost-effective and dependable technology over the last decade. MDT is the first volume supplier that introduces advantages of TMR technology to the commercial magnetic sensor market in multiple product series, including TMR switch sensors, TMR linear sensors, TMR angle sensors, and TMR gear tooth sensors.
